With the colapsable forums/categories and the Save Layout menu item there should be a Admin layout which becomes default for everyone. Meaning I as a Admin can set up the most important forums open and leave the rerst in collapsed mode and it would be the users option to open them and save it different if they wished like they can do now. What I mean is I can not change the default layout for everyone to see.

As far as default settings for users, that's an interesting idea. I sometimes wish we could create a generic user profile of notifications and preferences and other personal options like this. We can do that for permissions, of course, but not for preferences and notifications.
