A user at ars suggested the base of this one and it looked good.

Notifications are basically a way for a user to get current notifications of when a thread is posted to. Good enough.

I also see favorites, a way to save threads I'm interested in, but I get no notifications on them.

What we need is a way to move a notified thread into the favorites and delete is from notifications at the same time.

Have a way to transfer a thread into notifications from favorites.

Have a way to setup mass notifications for my favorites like with private topics.

There's a time period after which a thread which has received no notification emails automatically goes into my favorites, perhaps into an archive category (see last P). This should cut down on the amount of notification checking that would have to happen after the first few weeks and thus infopop's email load. The user could change this number. If a user never adds more favorites after said period of time it would move the last notification to favorite and send out an email telling me as such.

I would also like to suggest that users be able to setup categories for their favorites and the add favorites button will become a menu that shows the categories the favorite can go into. Then one can view their favorites by category only.
