I'd to change our page so that the most recent posts in a forum appear at the top. Anyone know how to do that?

That's the default. Have you changed it? Or maybe you mean posts within a thread?

Topic ordering within the forums.

Can be done in a forum by forum basis. In the control panel click forums, master settings. Select a forum then click the display tab. Right near the top you'll see Topic Ordering. That will allow you to change the topic sort within a forum.

For the order of posts within a thread just look further down on the same control panel page to Post/Reply Odering.

I made the change you suggested, but something strange occurred -- the original post remains at the top, then the most recent post appears. How can I make it so that the original post goes to the bottom?

That's the way it's supposed to work, so that the original question or comment "anchors" the discussion at the top of the page....otherwise you wouldn't necessarily know how the conversation started.

I instituted the new order of posts, and immediately received a flood of complaints -- the users find the format too confusing.

So, there's no way to change it so the first post goes to the bottom?

The choices are to have the posts ordered chronologically (oldest first), or reverse chronologically, with the topic starter always at the top.

Hi, I'm going to make the change from the default today at 3 p.m. and keep it through the weekend. For several years, we have ordered the reply posts in the default mode, with the most recent reply right under the original topic post.

We have a thread in our forum to go with this experiment. We're asking our forum users to tell us what they think of the change. Tom, you might ask your folks to let you know which they prefer. At the front end, let them know that you can't please everyone but you'll try.

Maybe you've already done this. Post how it's going, okay? And I'll let you know our results, too.
