Hello,

For some reason, numerous of the previous posts on my forum can not be accessed?

In other words, in some of the older posts there will be URL links pointing to a previous post....now this link is showing no thread (or thread not found......missing "m"!!!

What can be going on and how to fix. I want to access the previous posts...

Could this be caused by archiving older posts....how to remedy the situation. its critical that we are able to access those previous posts.

Help,

Imad

Do you, by chance, have automatic pruning enabled under Forum Content Management?

By archiving what do you mean? Are you moving topics to a different forum? That would break links that someone made manually.

Hi David and thank you!

I dont have pruning set automatically. I did a while back, but no more.

Could that be the problem and how can I reverse?

If you had automatic pruning on at one point and it automatically pruned content, then the content is gone.

Hi, imad:

Only if it's happened very recently (as in, the last day or so). We would have to do a backup restore on your site, and you would lose any content that has been posted since you pruned.

If you're unsure of when the deletion happened, you can check your module events in the eve control panel:

Eve > Reporting > Module Events

Just click "Retrieve Events" with all of the other fields blank, and see if the deletion appears on the list of events.

If you see the topic deletion listed, you can see the exact time the topic was deleted. If it's not listed, it probably happened a while ago.

Do you have any forums that are disabled in your control panel?

I did an "Module Event Reporting" and this is what I found:

"System Fri, 23 May 2008 0:00 Forums Auto-Deleted Messages 4103 topics were automatically pruned."

This appears to be my problem and why the URL links to the posts are not working...they are pointing to "pruned" topics.

Guys....anything if you can retrieve those deleted topics Smile

Hi, imad:

I'm afraid that is too long ago for the backup to be available. Besides that, you'd lose everything posted between then and now.

Im realizing that....thank you!

Many years of Q&A went in smoke.....that "pruning" function is hazardous to your health if you don'nt know what you are doing.

I learned my leason. NO pruning for me from now on Smile
