There seems to be a very large discrepancy between the "Views" counter within any Forum and the same "Forum Page Views" as reported through the Control Panel. In other words, if I total the "Views" for every topic within a specific forum I get a much lower total count that if I ask Eve to calculate the accummulated "page views" for the same forum. It looks to me like they are counting in different ways. Can anyone explain this? (B-T-W, it has nothing to do with clearing the cache)
Thank you, Keith |

Viewing the list of topics is a separate page view. Viewing several pages of the topic list generates several page views. These numbers are not included in the view sum for each individual topic.

Steve,
Thank you for your reply. I think you are saying that any one forum may have several topics and that each topic bumps up one count when it is viewed, but the topic count does not increase as people read replies within that topic. If so, your explanation makes perfect sense for forums with replies to topics. However, most of the forums in my community have no replies, therefore it seems to me that any forum with no replies should report the same number of "total" page views whether you are adding up "VIEWS" within the forum or accessing the accumulated Forum Page Views in the "Reports" section. It wouldn't be an issue if the numbers were close, but we're talking a factor of 2. Thank you, Keith |
